Corporate Profile
Prince Hotels, Inc. was established on June 4, 1956 by the Seibu Group's core business Seibu Railway Co., Ltd. to manage its Prince Hotels located in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
Since our founding, we have offered facilities and services ideally suited to cosmopolitan Tokyo such as the Takanawa Prince Hotel (now the Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa), the Akasaka Prince Hotel (now the Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka) and the Tokyo Prince Hotel which was constructed in time for Japan's inaugural Tokyo Olympics.
Launching our first overseas hotel in 1974 with the Toronto Prince Hotel in Canada, we then went on to establish a major tourism route to Hawaii with the opening of the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, the Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki and the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel.
In Japan, we opened a series of large-scale hotels particularly in the Tokyo metropolitan area. In addition to providing enhanced banquet room facilities such as one of the country's largest, the 'International Convention Center Pamir' at the New Takanawa Prince Hotel (now the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa), capable of hosting 3,600 guests, we also catered to the demand for events with entertaining dinner shows.
Prince Hotels then embarked upon a series of upgrades to our onsite hotel facilities such as restaurants and bowling alleys and in April 2002 we opened the Shinagawa Prince Hotel Executive Tower complete with a multiplex cinema and the ‘Club eX, Cabaret’. The hotel was later expanded in April 2005 with the launch of the ‘Aqua Stadium’ which includes an aquarium, restaurants and a concert hall for the enjoyment of a wide range of guests.
On February 1, 2006, Prince Hotels embarked upon a new chapter with the divestiture and consolidation of Seibu Railway's metropolitan hotel assets as well as a merger with major hotel, golf course and ski resort operator Kokudo Co., Ltd.
Looking to the future, we intend to consolidate our extensive network of city hotels, resort hotels, golf courses and ski resorts in order to provide facilities and services which meet the needs of our guests in a manner befitting one of Japan's largest hotel leisure businesses. We will also keep striving to remain in step with society through environmentally-friendly sound management.
