Nonin-Ji temple

Located in the southern foothills of Mt. Tenranzan, Nonin-Ji is a famous temple of the Sotoshu sect with a history that goes back more than 500 years.The grounds of the temple, which extend to about 264,000 square meters, were selected as one of the top 100 gardens in Japan and are well worth seeing. (There is an admission fee of 300 yen.) An enjoyable detour in a day of hiking on Mt. Tenranzan.

Kinchakuda

These paddy fields, surrounded by the Komagawa River, look like a Kinchaku (Japanese drawstring bag), hence the name. In autumn, 1 million cluster amaryllis flowers bloom here, creating the impression of a crimson carpet.

Hanno pottery class

This type of pottery was made in this region from the Tenpo period through the middle of the Meiji era. The high iron content in the clay gives an earthy feel to the pottery, which is often decorated with a gourd motif.

Moss phlox

Literally a patchwork of flowers comprising the moss phlox of different colors planted on the hill of Hitsujiyama in the foothills of Mt. Bukosan, the symbol of Chichibu region. A flowery carpet made up of 350,000 plants of 11 species of moss phlox (POLEMONIACEAE, Polemonium) in colors such as pink, white, and purple.
