Roppongi/Roppongi Hills

This area is home to one of the best entertainment districts in Tokyo, as well as the business developments of Roppongi Hills, Tokyo Midtown, Izumi Garden, and many upscale condominiums. This area is also well known as a gathering place for international residents of Tokyo. The Roppongi Hills complex is one of Tokyo's newest developments, with shops and restaurants as well as a variety of other facilities such as an art museum, cinema, viewing platform, hotel, residences, offices, and a public park. The viewing platform on the 52nd floor of Mori Tower in Roppongi Hills offers a dynamic, unbroken, 360-degree view of Tokyo and its surrounding areas.

Hama Rikyu

A typical feudal lord's garden from the Edo period, that contains seawater ponds and two former duck hunting grounds. Seawater ponds change with the tides and are a common feature of Japanese gardens built by the sea.

Shiba Daijingu Shrine

According to shrine records, this is one of the oldest shrines dedicated to a branch deity of the Ise Shrine during the mid-Heian period.

World Trade Center Building

The 152 meter tall World Trade Center Building is situated west of Hamamatsucho Station. Completed in 1970, the complex hosts tenants ranging from the offices of trade-related organizations, and has floors dedicated to restaurants and retail shops. The Seaside Top viewing platform on the 40th floor of the building offers a dynamic 360-degree view of the area below. On a clear day you can see Mt. Fuji, the Tanzawa mountain range, and Mt. Tsukuba, as well as the Boso Peninsula from across the bay. The viewing platform also offers a spectacular view of the waterfront in the evening.

Azabu-juban Shopping District

Take a stroll and enjoy the calm atmosphere of this international district, lined with traditional shops over a century old. Every year in August visitors flock to the annual Azabu-juban Summer Festival where you can visit the international bazaar hosted with the help of embassies from about 30 different countries and enjoy the true local flavor of Tokyo's Minato Ward.

Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum

Built in 1933, this art museum is located in the former residence of Prince Asaka. The architectural style and the garden are regarded as a single object of art, and the building itself incorporates the Art Deco style that took Europe by storm at the start of the 20th century. The chandeliers of the entranceway, hall, and former dining room are all the work of the great Art Deco glass artisan, Rene Lalique.

Odaiba

A new hotspot on the Tokyo seaside. There are many attractions at Odaiba, including Odaiba Kaihin Koen (seaside park), Shiokaze Koen (park), Japan's first hot spring theme park Oedo-Onsen-Monogatari, shopping centers such as Decks Tokyo Beach, Aqua City Odaiba, and VenusFort, the Fuji Television Network building, and the Odaiba Ferris Wheel.

Asakusa

For centuries, Asakusa has been a center of urban life for ordinary people in Tokyo. This lively quarter, which retains a feel of old Edo, is very popular with tourists. Pass through the Kaminarimon Gate and stroll down the Nakamise shopping street to the center of Asakusa, Sensoji Temple. This temple, familiarly known as the Asakusa Kannon, has been the center of people's lives and religious faith for centuries. Asakusa is also the setting for many colorful events throughout the year, such as the Sanja Festival (the Asakusa Shrine's annual festival in mid-May), which is one of the three major festivals from the Edo period, as well as the Houzukiichi (ground cherry market), the Asakusa Samba Carnival, and the Tokyo Jidai Matsuri Festival.

Akihabara

Akihabara is well-known as a sprawling district full of shops selling PCs, electrical appliances, electronic components, and other products. With more than 500 shops, Akihabara is known for its enormous product range and low prices. What you cannot find elsewhere, you are sure to find here.

Shinjuku

Shinjuku is a vibrant district with many different faces. If you go out the West Exit of Shinjuku Station, you can see the impressive Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office building, while just outside the East Exit are such Tokyo shopping landmarks as the Alta fashion building and the Isetan department store, and the area around the South Exit is undergoing new development on a large scale.From shopping to the latest gourmet spots, there is much to see and do in Shinjuku.The Kabukicho area of Shinjuku is one of Tokyo's most popular entertainment districts, where the partying lasts until the small hours of the morning.

Ginza

The exclusive shopping district where land is more expensive than anywhere else in Japan. Home to upscale department stores and exclusive brand boutiques, as well as gourmet restaurants, Ginza has a sophisticated and elegant atmosphere. Cars are prohibited in Ginza from noon on weekends and holidays, transforming the district into a relaxing Pedestrian Heaven. This practice of temporarily pedestrianizing shopping districts, which originated in Ginza, has since been introduced in many other places throughout Japan.From Ginza, the districts of Tsukiji, Yurakucho, and Hibiya are within walking distance.The Tsukiji fish market is popular with Japanese and international visitors alike. Hibiya is another sophisticated district, featuring the expansive, green oasis of Hibiya Park.
