Sanyo-so stands by the quiet mountainside of Izu Nagaoka, which has prospered as a hot springs resort since the Kamakura Era. On the vast and nature-rich plot of land, visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the four seasons in the garden full of elegant waterfalls and streams.
Guest Rooms
Guest rooms built in the style of tea-ceremony houses are located amid the 40 annexes scattered around the 138,800 m² plot of land surrounded by an elegant garden full of greenery and water. Some rooms enable visitors to bathe in Sanyo-so owned baths using hot water pumped directly from nearby hot springs.
Dining
Sanyo-so offers seasoned Japanese cooking using local ingredients like vegetables from Shuzenji and Amagi and seafoods from Suruga Bay and Sagami Bay. All ingredients have been strictly selected to bring out the best of each season.
Visitors can enjoy the taste of a first-class Japanese restaurant and observe traditional Japanese culture such as traditional Japanese plates, buildings, Japanese gardens, art objects, and furnishing goods.

The 9,900 m² garden beautifully reflects seasonal changes. The garden blossoms with weeping cherry trees, azalea, dwarf azalea in spring, with iris in summer, and the changes leaves of maple and azalea in autumn, as well as with cherry trees and Japanese plum in winter. Words cannot express the beauty this garden exerts. The "sounds of water" from the pond as well as surrounding greens highlight the center of the garden.
The "Azumaya" — which stands on a hill — is a great place to get an overall view of the garden. This is also a great viewing spot for overlooking the entire Sanyo-so premise.
