Guest Rooms
Main Building
The 10 main buildings have long been cherished by prominent figures as a building that represents Japanese ryokans (inns) as well as buildings which show off the skills of many famous architects and designers. The guest rooms' names originate from the traditional Japanese performances of "Noh." Each guest room has a unique look, which show in the details of each room's alcove posts, the horizontal pieces of timber used in the building's framework, girders, fanlights and other parts.
Oimatsu
This space was used as a guest room by the Iwasaki family. Visitors can relax in this spacious guest room consisting of three rooms and connected to a vast garden. The wide edge on the window frame is a single piece of log measuring 12.6 meters. The glass is good old fashion warped glass. The cross piece is rounded out. The stepping stone by the yard is a saddle stone measuring 3 meters wide, which is extremely large for a monolith. From the guest rooms, visitors can see winter cherry trees between late January and late February and weeping cherry trees between early to mid-April in the 9,900 m² garden facing the room.

Miyuki
This room, built in 1957, is located in the very back — about 300 meters away from the entrance of the new building. The corridor dedicated to the "Miyuki" room is about 50 meters, giving visitors a rich sense of privacy. The room is located on a hill higher than the other rooms, enabling visitors to look down on the entire garden. In front of the room is a breathtaking view of a large Japanese red pine. Behind the tree is a large Japanese garden that reflects the subtle differences of the four seasons. Behind the new buildings is a mountainous view that looks like part of a traditional Japanese painting, with cherry trees littering the mountainside in spring and the bright foliage in autumn. This room is the only room among the main buildings to have adjacent baths with hot springs water for a relaxing stay.

This room, built in 1929, is a standard type in the main buildings. Visitors can exit from the wide edge veranda to the garden and relax in the not-too-vast space. The glass door is made of good old fashioned warped glass. The crosspiece is rounded out to eliminate corners.

Nowaki
This room, built in the same period as the Hatsune, is the most popular room among the new buildings. It consists of two rooms (the main room and an adjoining room) and comes with a wide edge veranda that gets showered with sunshine during the day. When all the bathroom windows are open, the bath turns into a half-outdoor bath. During certain seasons, visitors can forget time while soaking in a bath and feeling natural breeze.

Hatsune
This room — built in the late Showa Era — is the special room among the new buildings. It exemplifies every feature of the new building, which is one of the last creations of the late architect Togo Murano. The ceiling of the entrance is made of the famed "Ajiro Tenjo" consisting of woven splint, which is believed to have been hand woven on site by craftsmen. The alcove is a single sheet of Japanese cinnamon and is as wide as two tatami mats. The Hatsune room is filled with luxurious features and represents the Showa Era.

Sawarabi
This room — located closest to the entrance to the new buildings — gives visitors a view of the pond by the entrance. Like Nowaki, this guest room consists of two rooms (the main room and the adjoining room). The odd mix of stained glass décor in the Japanese room brings out a unique look. When using the own bath, visitors walk outside for a short period within the same guest room premise. This is also a unique design.

Izutsu
This room was the last to be completed among the new buildings in 1993. It is a Japanese room equipped with a Sanyo-so owned hot springs bath — a rarity at Sanyo-so. Near the entrance of the room is a bamboo trellis door. After going through another wicket and sliding paper door, visitors can finally enter the room. This room — consisting of a relaxing Japanese-style room and a bedroom — is often requested by visitors. The trickling of water in the nearby pond helps relax visitors.
