Karuizawa Ski Resort

Karuizawa is well known in Japan as one of the country’s premier resort areas. The Prince Grand Resort Karuizawa has become a symbol of the area, drawing guests in all the seasons. This winter, though, for those seeking a true quality stay, we have created a new type of hospitality delivering the ultimate in luxury.

Tonight, the Karuizawa Ski Resort is ready to stay up late,
just for you. Start a special night that will sparkle in your memories forever.

11:00

Begin the journey at the Karuizawa Shopping Plaza

The first stop for many in Karuizawa is the Shopping Plaza. In this huge, 260,000m2 area right next to Karuizawa Station are some 240 stores, including outdoor shops—it’s a truly massive shopping center. Look for something new, window shop or just enjoy a relaxing stroll. The Plaza also includes a wide choice of restaurants and cafés, so enjoy lunch here before heading to the Karuizawa Ski Resort.

15:00

Local drinks and spectacular views from the mountaintop

The top of the ski area provides amazing, panoramic views of the area. Huge Mt. Asama lies in front of you; rugged Mt. Myogi behind; the Gunma mountains can also be seen. The Maruhachi kitchen car, located at the mountaintop, serves pure Manma Juice, as well as the locally-produced Karuizawa Beer. Relax and enjoy spectacular views and local flavors.

17:00

Night skiing for just one group of guests

The ski resort closes down at 5pm—but then a German-made grooming machine appears on the Prince slope, perfectly sculpting the hill. It’s not preparation for the next day, but for one special group of guests who will be able to enjoy their very own, smoothly groomed slopes. Hospitality on a grand scale, right here at the Karuizawa Ski Resort. A private night ski experience, something we don’t normally do. Depending on the snow conditions, you may even be able to ride in the grooming machine!

18:00

A dazzling light show, just for you

The beautiful setting is the Prince Slope, the main run on the Karuizawa Ski Resort. The length of the run is 370 meters; the slope is a moderate one, with a maximum steepness of 18 degrees and an average of 10 degrees—perfect for a nighttime cruise. Step off the Prince Lift, and you’ll see a sight unlike anything you’ve seen before. Below are the colorful lights of Karuizawa city, with Mt. Asama standing beyond. A beautiful scene you’ll definitely want to capture. To make the scene a permanent one, a professional photographer will take your photos and video as you glide down the Prince Slope, surrounded by jewel-like lights. Capture the night, and your loved one’s smile, forever.

19:00

An exclusive moment to enjoy at the Starry Sky Café

After experiencing the amazing views, relax in the Hoshizora (starry sky) Café, a tent set next to the slopes, and only available tonight. There’s nothing like a bonfire to warm both body and mind, so enjoy this relaxing moment watching the flickering flames while enjoying a mulled wine or coffee. If you like (and if there are kids with you), roast some marshmallows or pop some corn over the fire! And, if it’s snowing outside, don’t worry; there’s a wood-burning stove inside the tent as well.

19:30

Surrounded by a starry sky

The area where the Hoshizora Café tent is set up is in a spot surrounded by trees, shielding you from the city light below. Now look up at the starry sky above. You don’t even have to worry about a child looking up into the cold, clear air and asking, “What is that star?” The starry-sky concierge is here to provide explanations. When it’s cloudy or snowing, a projector will shoot the stars onto the inside of the tent. A little planetarium on the mountains, where you can enjoy an explanation of the constellations.

A special scenic experience that lasts a lifetime

The Karuizawa Ski Resort will help you to make your experience something lasting. We will take photos of your runs down the slope and of the scenery, and present them to you. Images of the experience that are sure to be lifelong treasures.
