Oiso, the town of history

Oiso, the town of history Oiso town, which once flourished as a post station town on the Tokaido route to Kyoto, is known throughout Japan as the favored summer home of many important people and intellectuals since Japan’s first Prime Minister, Ito Hirobumi, made his home here in the 1900s. The Terugasaki coast, where in 1885 Japan’s first public bathing beach was opened, and Shigitatsuan, one of the Three Great Haikai (poem) Arenas of Japan, are just two examples of the bountiful nature and ancient history that Oiso is blessed with, as well as many cultural remains and tourist resources.
