Opened in 1990 to support Japan’s bid to host the 1993 Alpine World Ski Championships — the only one ever held in Asia — Shizukuishi Prince Hotel marks its 35th anniversary this winter. For the 2025–26 season, SHIZUKUISHI SNOW RESORT presents a new way to experience Japan’s winter under the theme “SNØVA” — a blend of SNOW and NOVA, meaning “a new winter star.” Discover “a new way to enjoy winter” through magical illuminations, the Kamakura Snow Dome Village, and other uniquely Japanese experiences. Beyond the slopes, enjoy a new Après-Ski style where nature, light, and snow come together to create unforgettable winter nights in Tohoku.

Shizukuishi Prince Hotel & Ski Resort Winter Illumination

Experience a magical winter illumination that lights up Shizukuishi. Beautiful displays can be enjoyed at the hotel entrance, the iconic spruce tree next to the Austria House, and the ski resort’s base station, where the lights blend perfectly with the snowy landscape. Enjoy a romantic winter night, offering a completely different atmosphere from the daytime slopes.

Sunrise CAT Tour

Join a special tour to the mountain summit aboard a snowcat (CAT) and experience the sparkling sunrise in the crisp winter air. From the top, a vast silver-white landscape stretches before you, offering an extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime view. Create new winter memories on the slopes at the very start of the day.

Snowshoe Trekking Tour

Join a guided trekking tour across a snow-covered golf course and immerse yourself in the stunning winter landscape. Feel the vast, sparkling white world around you and fully enjoy the unique beauty of winter. Snowshoe and pole rentals are available, making it easy even for first-time participants to join.

Shizukuishi Snow Land

Shizukuishi Snow Land is a winter-only activity park where you can fully enjoy the wonders of snow. Slide down sleds, go tubing, ride the snow escalator, and more—perfect for children experiencing snow for the first time. Spend a heartwarming winter day with your family and create unforgettable memories together.

In 1993, the Alpine Ski World Championships—the only one held in Asia at the time—brought the Austrian team to Shizukuishi.
This winter, the Austria House, once used by the team, is transformed into a special “hidden forest bar.”
Relax and enjoy a cozy winter evening in a space filled with history and romance.
