[Event] Notice Regarding the 117th Lake Onuma Festival and Temporary Shuttle Bus Service (Advance Reservation Required)
The 117th Lake Onuma Festival is coming up.
This year’s theme is “Connecting with the Light of the Lake’”
The origins of the Lake Onuma Festival date back to 1906 (Meiji 39), when Nobuo Suzuki, the head priest of the local Keiun-ji Temple, floated lanterns on the lake and held a Buddhist service to console the spirits of those who had drowned in Lake Onuma. This marked the beginning of the festival.
During the event, numerous lanterns will float on the surface of Lake Onuma. In addition to the traditional “lantern-floating” ceremony held for those who have drowned, the recently deceased, and ancestors, there will also be a fireworks display, children’s activities, and many other events suitable for the whole family to enjoy.
This year’s event will take place over two days, on July 25 and 26, with the “lantern-releasing” ceremony and fireworks display scheduled for July 26.
On July 26, in conjunction with the fireworks display, a temporary shuttle bus service will be provided from the hotel to Onuma Park Station. Reservations must be made in advance.
