Situated in the heart of Tokyo with easy access to all parts of Tokyo. A 5-minute walk from the Takanawa exit of Shinagawa Station, servicing the Shinkansen Line, JR Lines, and Keihin Kyuko Line. Arrive from Haneda Airport Station, on the Keihin Kyuko Line, in as little as 14 minutes if you take a rapid limited express train.

Historical Sites

A stone pathway leads through a traditional Japanese gate with a gray tiled roof, framed by neatly maintained green shrubs and seasonal cherry blossom trees. Red lantern posts line both sides of the pathway, guiding visitors toward a set of stone steps visible beyond the gate. Traditional metal lanterns stand near the entrance, while flowering branches and garden landscaping create a peaceful outdoor setting that highlights the beauty of Japanese architecture and seasonal nature.

In 2021, the Kannondo, bell tower, and temple gate were designated as tangible cultural properties by Minato City.

Those historical spots blend in nature, and change the atmosphere with the season.

Today, Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa revives that richly historic moon-viewing culture with a modern interpretation that recalls the quintessence of Edo. It’s called “TAKANAWA NIJUROKUYA“.

Seasonal Activities

Spring – SAKURA Festival

Our Japanese Garden has 210 cherry blossom trees with 17 different kinds of sakura. The month-long SAKURA Festival also includes special menus at the hotel restaurants, cultural workshops and Yoga lessons under the cherry blossom trees.

A private soaking bath filled with clear water is surrounded by light-colored wood and stone-inspired finishes. Water flows gently from a curved faucet into the rectangular tub, while a wooden bucket holding a folded white towel and green aromatic leaves rests on the bath edge in the foreground. Soft natural lighting and clean architectural lines create a calm, comfortable environment designed for relaxation and wellness during a hotel stay.

Spring – Shobu Yu

Period: Tuesday, April 29 – Tuesday, May 6

Shobu Yu is a custom celebrated on May 5 at Tango no Sekku (Boys’ Day). At that day, people take a bath with Shobu (Iris leaves) to wish for good health and protection from illness. It is also expected to provide relaxation benefits (Shobu contains essential oil components) from its refreshing scent and promote blood circulation as a medicinal herb. At TAKANAWA HANAKOHRO, Shobu is available in the rooms from April 29th to May 6th.

A large outdoor swimming pool is set within a landscaped garden surrounded by mature trees and hotel buildings. White lounge chairs are arranged around the pool deck, with shaded cabanas available for relaxation on one side. Sunlight filters through the trees, reflecting on the blue water and illuminating the stone-paved pool area. The setting combines open-air recreation with the natural greenery of the hotel grounds, providing guests with a spacious environment for swimming, relaxation, and leisure.

Summer – 2 Types of Swimming Pools

At Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa, there are two types of swimming pools: a luxurious roof top pool for adults and a garden pool for families.

Autumn – Autumn leaves

Admire our approximately 20,000 square meter Japanese Garden created by Teiji Kusuoka, who also worked on the New Imperial Palace.

Enjoy the scenery of each season, such as the warm red leaves in autumn.

A traditional Japanese bell pavilion is illuminated at night within a wooded garden setting. The wooden structure, topped with a tiled roof, houses a large suspended bell at its center. Warm string lights outline the pavilion and nearby pathways, while red-and-white decorative fabric panels surround the base of the structure. Trees and garden paths extend into the surrounding darkness, creating a distinctive nighttime landscape where guests can experience seasonal events, traditional architecture, and Japanese cultural heritage.

Winter – New Year’s Event

Joya-no-Kane refers to the annual ringing of bells on the night of New Year’s Eve. Guests could also enjoy Japanese New Year’s Food.
