Sustainability Steps of Nagoya Prince Hotel Sky Tower

At Nagoya Prince Hotel Sky Tower, we are committed to environmental conservation based on one of the Seibu Group’s group visions, which declares, “We always keep in mind consideration for the natural environment and the Earth’s environment.” In alignment with this declaration, we are dedicated to sustainable growth and are actively pursuing various initiatives to promote environmental preservation.

◆Participation in Earth Hour
EARTH HOUR originated in 2007 with an event organized by WWF Australia and partner companies in Sydney to raise awareness about climate change. Since then, it has grown into the world’s largest grassroots event. Held every year on the last Saturday of March, EARTH HOUR sees participation from over 190 countries and regions, inspiring people worldwide to take action for a better future for both humanity and the planet.
At our hotel, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on the designated day, we turned off the exterior signage lights and dimmed the lighting in public spaces. We encouraged our guests to cooperate by reducing lighting in their rooms during this time. Additionally, in the “Sky Dining Tenku” restaurant, exclusively for guests staying or dining on that day, we offered the specially crafted “Sustainable Mocktail Ocean” for this event. The mocktail is an environmentally friendly non-alcoholic cocktail made by reusing tea leaves popular in our hotel’s afternoon tea, with added mint and lemon.We propose a day for everyone to reflect on the Earth, consider the prevention of global warming, and contemplate environmental conservation.

◆Reduction of Plastic Waste
-Discontinuation of Single-Use Plastic Straws
We have ceased the use of plastic straws in the hotel’s restaurants as part of our commitment to reducing plastic waste. Should our guests request straws, we provide paper straws as an alternative.

◆Food Loss Reduction Campaign
-Display of POP (Point of Purchase) and Posters to Raise Awareness of Food Loss Reduction
At all buffet restaurants operated by Prince Hotels nationwide, including banquet venues used for breakfast events, we are actively promoting food loss reduction. This involves the placement of POP materials advocating food loss reduction on buffet boards and the display of awareness posters at restaurant entrances. Furthermore, we are engaged in initiatives such as the development of demand-supply forecasting models to further reduce food loss.

◆Promotion of Eco-Friendly Initiatives

For guests staying two nights or more, we offer a discount incentive for those who choose not to have their rooms cleaned, beds made, or linens and amenities replaced during their stay.
Additionally, we encourage guests to use toilet paper responsibly by recommending that it be used until completely finished.

◆Supporting the Social Inclusion of People with Disabilities
In the town of Obara, Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, there is a unique type of cherry blossom known as “Shikizakura,” which blooms in both spring and autumn. To support the social inclusion of individuals with disabilities, Cross Company, in collaboration with Aichi Prefectural Ichinomiya Higashi Special Support School, produced art materials inspired by “Shikizakura,” the rare four-season cherry blossoms of Obara. From autumn 2019 to spring 2021, these art creations, reflecting the imagery of “Shikizakura,” were displayed as lobby decorations, showcasing the collaborative efforts of the children from the special support school.
