Activities

Experience the Great Outdoors by Lake Ashinoko

Explore Hakone’s great outdoors through exclusive activities. We offer unique Segway tours found nowhere else in Hakone, kayak tours on the lake, and guest-exclusive fishing experiences right in our Hotel’s courtyard.

Season

Spring

In the high-altitude area by Lake Ashinoko in Hakone, cherry blossom season typically arrives from early to mid-April. You can enjoy a leisurely cherry blossom viewing a bit later than in Tokyo, with views of the Oshima cherry trees next to the Hotel in Hakone-en, the weeping cherry trees in the forest of Hakone Kuzuryu, and scattered cherry blossoms that decorate the mountains across the lake.

Summer

This season wraps Hakone in vibrant green, setting the stage for Reitaisai(the grand annual festival) at Hakone Shrine, the area’s most well-known landmark. The week starting July 31, the day before the grand festival, celebrates a week of summer festivals at Lake Ashinoko. Fireworks illuminate the sky over Lake Ashinoko for six nights in a row across its four ports (Moto-Hakone, Hakone-en, Kojiri, and Hakone-machi).
Particularly on August 2 and 3, the fireworks launched from the port at Hakone-en, which is adjacent to our Hotel, can be enjoyed from the tranquility of your room, offering a front-row seat to the spectacle.

Autumn

As the remnants of summer dissipate and the sun’s fervor cools, the landscape gradually transitions to shades of yellow and red. Autumn in Hakone can be as relaxing as soaking in hot springs while admiring the fall colors, or as active as exploring the nearby trails.

Winter

The quiet dance of snowflakes and the land shimmering in silver under a clear, snowy sky create an unparalleled serene atmosphere, reminiscent of a private winter wonderland.
After a snowfall, the weather often clears up, revealing the spectacular view of the “upside-down Fuji” reflected in Lake Ashinoko and mountains blanketed in snow.
Moreover, the early mornings of winter, when Mount Fuji is bathed in a pink hue by the rising sun, present a scene of striking beauty.
