Notice of the Introduction of Accommodation Tax

Thank you very much for your continued patronage.

We would like to inform you that the Hokkaido and Sapporo City accommodation taxes will apply to stays on or after Wednesday, April 1, 2026. For details, please refer to the official Hokkaido and Sapporo City websites.

■Accommodation tax rates

• If the accommodation charge is less than ¥20,000 per person per night: ¥300 (breakdown: Sapporo City accommodation tax ¥200 + Hokkaido accommodation tax ¥100)
• If the accommodation charge is ¥20,000 or more and less than ¥50,000 per person per night: ¥400 (breakdown: Sapporo City accommodation tax ¥200 + Hokkaido accommodation tax ¥200)
• If the accommodation charge is ¥50,000 or more per person per night: ¥1,000 (breakdown: Sapporo City accommodation tax ¥500 + Hokkaido accommodation tax ¥500)
  *The accommodation tax must be paid separately from the accommodation charge.

■Guests exempt from accommodation tax

• Preschool children, children, pupils, students, and accompanying chaperones participating in school excursions or other school events organized by schools defined in Article 1 of the School Education Act (excluding universities)
• Children aged 3 and older and accompanying chaperones participating in events organized by certified centers for early childhood education and care, nursery schools, home-based childcare service providers, and similar institutions, conducted for the entire institution or by age group
