SHIZUKUISHI SNOW RESORT opened in 1990 in Shizukuishi, the host venue of the 1993 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, the only Alpine World Ski Championships ever held in Asia. For the 2026-2027 winter season, the resort continues its commitment from last season to showcase the theme of “a new winter experience woven together by snow and light.”
Centered around the Kamakura Plaza, where guests can enjoy a uniquely Japanese winter experience, the resort offers enchanting illuminations and special moments surrounded by breathtaking snowy landscapes. Under the theme of “discovering a winter you have never known before, ” SHIZUKUISHI SNOW RESORT continues to evolve into a stay-style winter resort that offers much more than skiing.
After an exhilarating day on the slopes, guests can enjoy an “Après-Ski” experience featuring hot springs, exceptional cuisine, and captivating evening entertainment. Surrounded by the rich natural beauty, crisp mountain air, and dazzling lights of Tohoku in winter, we invite you to create unforgettable memories on a truly special journey.
What is Après-Ski?
“Après-Ski” is a French term meaning “after skiing.” It refers to the time spent relaxing after winter sports activities, often enjoying food, drinks, and social experiences. More than simply the period after skiing, it represents an important part of the overall ski resort lifestyle and culture.

Experience a magical winter illumination that lights up Shizukuishi. Beautiful displays can be enjoyed at the hotel entrance, the iconic spruce tree next to the Austria House, and the ski resort’s base station, where the lights blend perfectly with the snowy landscape. Enjoy a romantic winter night, offering a completely different atmosphere from the daytime slopes.
