Wind Ensemble Profile
Tokai University Takanawadai High School

The Wind Ensemble of Tokai University Takanawadai High School has competed in the All Japan Band Competition 19 times, winning Gold Awards on 13 occasions. They has also appeared 11 times in the All Japan Marching Contest, winning 7 Gold Awards, establishing itself as a distinguished and consistently successful participant at the national level.

In the previous year, they were selected as the Tokyo representative in all three major competitions organized by the All Japan Band Association—the Ensemble Contest, Band Competition, and Marching Contest—and went on to compete at the national finals. In addition, they achieved a milestone by participating for the first time since its founding in the national marching band competition organized by the Japan Marching Band Association, further expanding the scope of its activities.
Internationally, they have actively performed overseas, including concerts in Sydney, Australia; Budapest, Hungary; and at the Vienna Musikverein in Austria.
Advisor: Takao Hatakeda

Born in Hokkaido in 1971. This year marks his 30th year as advisor to the Wind Ensemble.
Asa conductor of both Tokai University Takanawadai High School and the Tokyo Ryusei Wind Orchestra, he has appeared 33 times in the All Japan Band Competition, winning 25 Gold Awards. In 2019, he was honored by the All Japan Band Association with an award recognizing his long-standing contributions as a participating conductor.
He has also served as a guest conductor for renowned ensembles such as the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra and Naniwa Orchestral Winds, and has conducted concerts at prestigious overseas venues, including the Vienna Musikverein.
Currently, he serves as a Standing Director of the Japan High School Band Association and is a member of “Kyoen – The 21st Century Wind Music”.
