Sapporo Prince Hotel has acquired “3 Gyoiko Zakura (or 3 stars)” under the “Sakura Quality An ESG Practice (commonly known as Sakura Quality Green).”

Sapporo Prince Hotel has acquired “3 Gyoiko Zakura (or 3 stars)” under the “Sakura Quality An ESG Practice (commonly known as Sakura Quality Green),” which certifies facilities that practice globally-essential SDGs initiatives, becoming the first accomodation facility in Hokkaido to achieve this.
As the site of the G7 Ministers’ Meeting on Climate, Energy and Environment we hope to continue to show our commitment to the SDGs and to encourage more people to show interest and concern for them.



What is “Sakura Quality”?

It is a quality system focusing on accommodation facilities such as hotels and ryokan (Japanese inns), whereby the level of quality of premium Japanese tourism services offered to travelers around the world is evaluated and certified by a third party.



What is “Sakura Quality Green”?

To obtain “Sakura Quality Green” certification, the company must first obtain “Sakura Quality” certification.
It is a quality certification system that rates facilities on a scale of one to five based on the 17 SDGs, broken up into 172 criteria related to environmental and social impact as well as sustainable corporate governance.



Background to obtaining “Sakura Quality” and “Sakura Quality Green” certification

Due to the spread of COVID-19 the values of tourism worldwide have changed, and destinations and accommodation that incorporate “SDGs”, “sustainability” and “concern for the environment” have become important options. As demand to visit Japan by foreign visitors recovers, we will show guests in Japan and from overseas in an easy-to-understand manner, that we are a company that is safe, secure, and actively involved in the SDGs. We will do this by demonstrating that we meet international standards in our efforts, which are based on safety and security, to provide Japanese hospitality and show concern for the environment.
