Ezo Flying Squirrel
Ezo flying squirrels, members of the squirrel family living in Hokkaido’s forests, eat and sleep in the trees and rarely come down to the ground.
Their bodies are round and fluffy, with large eyes adapted to take in as much light as possible—an essential trait for these nocturnal creatures.
Ezo Tree Squirrel
Unlike chipmunks, these squirrels live in the trees. Their fur turns brown in summer and gray in winter.
They’re known for their long tails, which are nearly the same length as their bodies, and fluffy ears in the winter.
