The 61st Towada Lake Festival will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Yasumiya on the shores of Towada Lake in Towada City, Aomori Prefecture.
This year’s event also commemorates the 90th anniversary of the designation of Towada Lake as a national park. Highlights include a sky lantern release and a spectacular fireworks display over the lake, making it a symbolic celebration marking the arrival of summer.
Under the theme of “Generational Transition” and “Heritage,” the festival expresses a vision of passing on the beauty of Towada Lake—carefully preserved and nurtured by past generations—as well as the rich local festival culture, to the next century. The unique charm of Towada Lake, where nature, history, and vibrant festivities come together, will be fully showcased in this highly anticipated event.
Details regarding event programs and registration for paid activities will be released sequentially starting in April 2026. For the latest updates, please visit the official website. Please note that the event may be postponed or canceled in case of severe weather.
