Sanyo-so nestles in the foothills of Mt. Genjiyama in Izunagaoka. It used to be the cottage of Hisaya Iwasaki, the eldest son of Yataro Iwasaki, the founder of the former Mitsubishi Zaibatsu(conglomarite). It was built in a vast Japanese garden as a Japanese-style estate, like a historic and prestigious sukiya-zukuri (tea-ceremony arbor) building. It is an elegant luxury accommodation with a dignified atmosphere.
It is surrounded by the rich nature of a Japanese garden with a size close to 10,000m2, prepared by the Kyoto gardener, Ogawa Jihei. This hot spring inn features the seasonal beauties of nature with an atmosphere full of the sense of the extraordinary. Enjoy a supreme moment like you are in an imperial villa.

Our guests can try the famous “Ozashiki-asobi” (geisha entertainment) with Geigi-san (traditional female entertainers), who have been active since a long time ago in Nagaoka District, Izu. This plan also accommodates overseas guests and those who are interested in/want to experience Japanese culture. Our Japanese-style estate, like an elegant sukiya-zukuri building, is in its 75th year. You can see the special “Wa” (Japanese harmony) of the Japanese garden from your room. Why not also enjoy Ozasihiki-asobi, one of the features of Japanese culture?
