Genbe River

The Genbe River is a canal that flows for 1.5 km from its source, the Kohama Pond in Mishima Municipal Rakujuen Park,
through residential areas to the Nakazato Onsuichi Reservoir.
It is one of the most famous groundwater-fed waterways in Mishima, the City of Water.
Steppingstones and wooden platforms have been placed along the river for the enjoyment of people strolling along its banks.
The city’s residents, government, companies, and private groups work hard to keep the riverside beautiful. In early summer,
fireflies dance across the surface of the river.
