The Sanyo-so Experience

Enjoy the beauties of nature and emotions at a historic hot spring ryokan designated as a tangible cultural property

Sanyo-so nestles in the foothills of Mt. Genjiyama in Izunagaoka. It used to be the cottage of Hisaya Iwasaki, the eldest son of Yataro Iwasaki, the founder of the former Mitsubishi Zaibatsu(conglomarite). It was built in a vast Japanese garden as a Japanese-style estate, like a historic and prestigious sukiya-zukuri (tea-ceremony arbor) building. It is an elegant luxury accommodation with a dignified atmosphere.

It is surrounded by the rich nature of a Japanese garden with a size close to 10,000m2, prepared by the Kyoto gardener, Ogawa Jihei. This hot spring inn features the seasonal beauties of nature with an atmosphere full of the sense of the extraordinary. Enjoy a supreme moment like you are in an imperial villa.

Enjoy a tea ceremony and high-quality breakfast in a designated cultural property tea arbor.
