A Serene Campus Steeped in Nature and History
Located just north of Sapporo Station, Hokkaido University is one of Japan’s most prestigious academic institutions—and a surprisingly tranquil destination for visitors. Its spacious, tree-lined campus invites leisurely walks in every season, with paths that wind past historical buildings, botanical gardens, and open lawns.
Highlights include Furukawa Hall, a charming Western-style building, and the Old Dairy Model Farm, which speaks to the university’s origins as the Sapporo Agricultural College. The blend of architecture, nature, and scholarly heritage creates a peaceful atmosphere that’s ideal for reflection, photography, or simply enjoying a slower pace in the city.
