Hiking on Mt. Naeba

With Wadagoya lodge as your base, climb Mt. Naeba (elevation: 2,145m), one of Japan's famous mountains in Joshin'etsu Kogen National Park. There are multiple climbing trails from Wadagoya lodge. The Horaigawa Trail goes from Wadagoya to Kaguramine and beyond to the summit. It takes about four hours one way. Along the way is a boardwalk where you can enjoy grand views from the mountain ridge. Depending on the season, you can also see alpine flora and fields of flowers. Then at the summit, you will see a large, flat marshland with little ponds scattered around. This is where the name "Naeba" came from. An interesting landscape that does not seem like a mountain summit. A place you would want to definitely see.
